Francisco Franco

He is graduate of the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC-UNAM). His career as a stage director has been successfully developed in film, theater and television. A long list of theatrical productions such as “Un tranvía llamado deseo”, “Master Class”, “Los delitos Insignificantes”, “El Cuaderno Rojo”, “Todo Sobre Mi Madre”, “Amor, Dolor…”, “Tennessee en cuerpo y alma”, “El curioso incidente del perro a la medianoche”, “Closer”, “Privacidad”, “La Sociedad de Los Poetas Muertos”, “La Tía Mariela”, etc… have given him wide recognition as an excellent director of actors. In his multiple works in television, such as the series “Locas de Amor” or “El Hotel de los Secretos”, he has combined quality with high ratings.

His first feature film, “Quemar las naves”, received national and international awards (Audience Award in Morelia and Turin, Opera Prima in Toulouse, Best Director and Best Film in Long Island, New York, two Ariel Awards from the Mexican Academy, etc…) and placed him in the panorama of outstanding directors in Mexican cinema. His second fiction feature film, “Tercera llamada” had its world premiere in the official section of the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) where it won the press award, the audience award and a special jury award for the ensemble of actresses. It also received the Audience Award at the Lima Film Festival. The Jury Award for Best Film at the
at the Miami Film Festival and an Ariel for best screenplay.

He works as a directing advisor at the CCC (Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica) and teaches the workshop “Creación de personaje para una puesta en cámara” at the international film and television school of San Antonio de los Baños (Havana, Cuba).
