Hipatia Argüero

She is a translator, screenwriter and cultural manager, who studied English Literature in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the UNAM where he studied the specialties of translation and literary criticism. She graduated from the script training course at the Cinematographic Training Center.

She has written several short film scripts, which have participated in international and national festivals, and co-written two feature films currently in funding stage and two feature films in development.

She has worked in the development of several television series with producers and groups of writers such as Room Service, Catatonia, Writer’s Room, Laredo17 and Film Tank. Her feature film script, Borderless, participated in the co-production forum of the San Sebastian Festival and was selected for the Cine Qua Non Lab 2017.

She is the general director of Malamadre A.C., an organisation dedicated to the promotion of film production and exhibition in the region’s cultural activities of Mexico through cultural management projects such as Regional Meeting for Cinematographic Consolidation (ERCC).

She is script consultant at Calouma Films. She has published critical texts film and articles on cinema and television in magazines such as Nexos, Tierra Adentro, El Fanzine, Butaca Ancha, Literal Magazine, Código Magazine and Cine Toma, and is a panelist in the program Mi Cine, Tu Cine de Canal Once.

In 2019 he wrote “Detectives salvajes” for HBO, “La casa de las flores” for Netflix, and the short film “Crescendo” directed by Percival Aguero.

In 2020 he wrote “Promesas de campaña” for FoxTeleColombia.
Currently, she is writing a series for Netflix and completing her postgraduate studies in London.
