Jimena Montemayor Loyo graduated from the Center of Cinematographic Training in the Filmmaking career specializing in Direction and Cinematography. In 2006 and 2007 she studied in Prague, Czech Republic in “Film and Tv School of the Academy of Performing Arts “with the Erasmus program and FAMU international. She has participated in national and international festivals with her works both director as a photographer. With the short film “Ver llover” photographed by her she was the winner of the Palme d’Or at the 60th Festival de Cannes. Her last short film “Como pez en el agua” competed in official selection of several
international festivals. Her debut opera “En la Sangre” participated in the festival Locarno International Film Festival in “Carte Blanche” and the Festival de Guanajuato 2015 and was released commercially in the summer of 2016.
Her second feature film project “Restos de Viento” produced by Rabbit Media and Varios Lobos won the Mezcal prize for best film at the 33rd Film Festival in Guadalajara as well as the FIPRESCI prize and Mezcal for best director. In the festival de Cine de la Habana, obtained the Coral for the best photography and the parallel prize of Don Quixote.
In 2013 she founded the company Conejo Media to produce films and make cinema and short film samples. In the same year she founded Anima-Ars non-profit association to help people through art and work in together with the National Institute of Cardiology “Ignacio Chávez” and with the refuge against trafficking in persons “Pozo de Vida” In 2016, the Anima-Ars Inc branch was created USA to work in the state of Florida.
“Alba”, her third feature film script, won the Young Creators 2015-2016 in the specialty of cinematographic script in Audiovisual Media which was completed successfully as well as the Creator Stimulus in the Script writing mode by the IMCINE. “Alba” is intended to film
during the summer of 2019 in the State of Chihuahua. During 2015 she coordinated the photography specialty of the Training Center Cinematographic CCC. She currently directs and writes in various contents digital, commercial and documentary. She also teaches music workshops and photography with teenagers rescued from sexual trafficking.
