María Ripoll

Maria Ripoll is an award-winning Spanish film director with an international background and outlook. She is currently the highest-grossing female film director in Spanish history, with nine feature films to her credit.

She directs “LLUVIA EN LOS ZAPATOS” which wins Best Screenplay at the Montreal International Film Festival, the Audience Award at the Sitges and Seattle Festivals and is nominated for Best Director Novel at the Goya.

With “TORTILLA SOUP” shot in LA, she obtained box office success in the USA and 9 nominations for the ALMA Awards. She returns to Spain to direct “UTOPIA” and “TU VIDA EN 65″ based on the play by Albert Espinosa. The film was invited to numerous festivals, including the AFI Film Festival of Los Angeles and the Stockholm International Film Festival.

María also works in advertising and teaches courses in Actor Management at ECAM, ESCAC and at Central de Cine.

For television she produces and directs “CROMOSOMA CINCO” for TVE. In 2014, she directed “RASTROS DE SÁNDALO” between Bombay and Barcelona, which won the Best Film Award at the 2014 Gaudí Awards and the Audience Award in Montreal.

Her next film, the romantic comedy “AHORA O NUNCA”, released in June 2015, was a summer hit and made Maria the most successful director in Spain and also the movie “NO CULPES AL KARMA DE LO QUE TE PASA POR GILIPOLLAS ”, both go to the Miami Film Festival.

In 2019 she premiered her latest film “VIVIR DOS VECES”, awarded at the Valencian Audiovisual Awards.

In March 2019, she published his first book of stories “DOS MUJERES DESNUDAS” and at the end of the year he started filming in Mexico a film for Sony Pictures International, currently in Post Production.
