Jorge Laplace (1981, Jerez) graduated in Media Communication at the University of Seville, as well as coursing a Screenwriting Master Programme at the Barcelona Autonomous University and a Screenwriter Program at the New York Film Academy (NYC). He is an award-winning scriptwriter and director, whose works ‘Alfred and Anna’ (2013) and ’30 años de oscuridad’ (2012) have been nominated for Best Short Animated Film and Best Documentary Film at the Goya Awards.

In 2013, he was granted the Andalusian Future Price, given by Bankia and the Joly group, in the category of Culture. His work as a screenwriter has gathered more than 28 international accolades and more than 200 selections at several festivals including Cannes, San Sebastian, Malaga, Amsterdam’s IDFA or the Brooklyn Film Fest.

“23 Disparos” (2017), his first documentary feature film as a director premiered at the Malaga Film Festival and has won the Spanish Television Academy’s Iris Award, the Imagenera Award for Best Documentary at the Seville European Film Festival as well as Best Documentary both at the Asecan Awards and the New Andalusian Film Festival. His television premiere was a national trending topic.

“Equipo D: Los códigos olvidados” (2019), his next feature film as a director (which was co-produced with TVE1), premiered at Valladolid’s Seminci and has been selected at many festivals (Malaga, Rizoma, Sevilla) as well as being given the Asecan Andalusian Film Award.

His next project is the docuseries “Carolina Marín: puedo porque pienso que puedo” (2020), produced by Atresmedia Studios for Amazon Prime, about the Olympic champion and three-time world badminton champion. He recently finished filming a documentary in Mexico and has just released "100 días con la Tata" in Spain.
