Miguel Alejandro León
Born in Torreón, Coahuila, at 18 he came to Mexico City to study Political Science. He was professionally trained on theater through SOGEM -Mexican Writers School-, Argos Casazul and the School of Philosophy and Letters on the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México to focus his plays on young audiences, children and teenagers. His opera prima, at age 21, MONSTRUO FEO, premiered by the scene director Miguel Santa Rita. For this play, he was sponsored by the Festival de la Joven Dramaturgia, in which authors from Iberoamerica participated to build chances for future stages to play his works: QUISIERA CERRAR LOS OJOS, ALBERCADA, AÑORANZA EN CLAVE DE SOL y PAPÁ ESTÁ SOLO, sponsored by EFIARTES. Critics and media have highlighted Miguel as a smart author who addresses sensitive topics with a good sense of humor and without fuss, thus bringing viewers closer to issues involving addictions, domestic violence, and the abuse of power among people who love each other.
