Yulene Olaizola
Her debut feature, the documentary INTIMACIES OF SHAKESPEARE AND VICTORHUGO was awarded at more than 30 international festivals, including San Sebastián, BAFICI, IDFA and Havana. She also received the Ariel Award for Best First Feature in 2008. Her first fiction feature film PARAISOS ARTIFICIALES was supported by the Hubert Bals Fund and the Tribeca Film Institute, it premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2010. In 2012 she premiered FOGO at the Directors' Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2015 she made Epitafio, co-directed with Rubén Imaz. SELVA TRAGICA is her 5th film, it was supported by Cinemas du Monde-CNC, L´Atelier Cinefundation of the Cannes Film Festival, and by the ARRI Support Program; at the Venice Film Festival, and also participated in San Sebastián, New York and AFI, among others, it was distributed in 190 countries by the Netflix platform. In 2022, Yulene was part of the international film INTERACTIONS “When Cinema looks to Nature. ”, in which twelve filmmakers of different nationalities created collections between humans and animals, the film was produced by Arts For The World and premiered at the Rome International Festival.
