Julia Solomonoff
Argentine filmmaker based in New York, the writer, and director of “Nobody’s Watching” (Winner Best Actor, Tribeca FF 2017), “The Last Summer of la Boyita” (San Sebastian 2009) and “Hermanas” (Sisters, Toronto FF 2005). “The Last Summer of la Boyita” was produced by Almodovar’s El Deseo, and won over twenty international awards, including Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Film. She is currently developing the limited series “Off Peak” (MacDowell residency and SFF finalist).
For television, she wrote and directed the documentary series “Aerocene Pacha” and “Parana Biography of a River” (both for Canal Encuentro), the fiction “The Suitor” (PBS) and the mockumentary “ChinChonFan”. In 2008, she was Creative Director for Canal Encuentro. Her short films received awards from DGA, FIPRESCI, Milos Forman Fund, and a Nomination for the Student Academy Awards.
Her credits as producer include: “Cocalero” (Sundance 2007), “Found Memories” (Venice 2011), “Pendular” (Berlin 2017), “Memorias Cruzadas” (Moscow 2013), “Everybody Has a Plan”(Toronto 2012), “The Third Bank of the River” (Berlin 2014) and “Zama”. She is currently developing “The Illusion of an everlasting Summer”.
Previously, she has worked as First Assistant Director for Isabel Coixet, Carlos Sorin, Martin Rejtman, and Walter Salles in “The Motorcycle Diaries” She was Directing Professor at NYU Tisch and Columbia University MFA Programs and is currently Head of Directing of Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, Brooklyn College.
She is currently working as an Executive Producer and Showrunner in a series for Viacom that will be shot in 2022.
